Transportation is not part of the PPEC benefit itself. For children with Medicaid, the ride comes through Florida Medicaid's non-emergency transportation. The PPEC benefit covers an escort for the trip, and that escort is not necessarily a nurse.
The Ride and the PPEC Benefit
PPEC is medical care prescribed by a physician for an eligible child. The ride is arranged through Florida Medicaid's non-emergency transportation rather than being included in the PPEC benefit.
Ask us how the ride to and from the center works for your child.
Arriving at the Center
Peek A Boo Pediatric Care is located at 7777 Davie Road Extension in Hollywood, FL. When a child arrives, the center's nursing team receives the child and begins the care plan.
Families should share the child's equipment and medical needs, along with emergency contacts and transport instructions, before the first trip. Oxygen and feeding pumps, along with wheelchairs and other equipment, require planning with the transportation provider.
The Escort
The PPEC benefit covers an escort for the trip. The escort is not necessarily a nurse. Ask the center and the transportation provider who will accompany the child and how the child's equipment and emergency information will travel.
Setting Up the Ride
The enrollment process for PPEC includes:
- Confirming that the child qualifies for PPEC
- Getting a physician's prescription
- Completing Florida Medicaid approval, which is renewed every 180 days
- Sharing the child's address and schedule, along with equipment and care needs
- Asking how Florida Medicaid's non-emergency transportation works for the child
For eligible children, Florida Medicaid covers PPEC with a doctor's prescription. Start with our Who Qualifies page.
